CSTP Growth &

Development

This section highlights my journey through the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP) self-assessments. During the induction period, I have been able to grow in ways that positively impact my students, focusing on creating an environment where each child feels accepted, valued, and understood.

Comparative Analysis of CSTP Self-Assessments

Reflecting on my Initial CSTP Self-Assessment from January 2024 and my Post CSTP Self-Assessment from November 2024, I’ve seen growth across multiple standards. I’ve deepened my skills in Creating Effective Learning Environments (Standard 2) and Planning Instruction (Standard 4), advancing from “Integrating” to “Innovating” levels in areas such as setting high behavioral standards and incorporating culturally responsive practices.

Goals, Goals, Goals

Short-Term Goal:

By the conclusion of the academic year, I will enhance my ability to tailor instruction to address the diverse learning needs of my students. This will be accomplished by integrating at least three innovative and engaging differentiation strategies into my lessons, each strategically aligned with students' individual interests and learning profiles. Additionally, I will systematically gather feedback from students and refine my teaching practices based on their evolving progress and needs.

Long-Term Goal:

I will actively pursue ongoing professional development opportunities, attending specialized workshops and training focused on differentiated instruction. These endeavors will not only deepen my expertise but will also foster collaborative partnerships with colleagues, enabling me to contribute meaningfully to our shared pedagogical growth as I continue to evolve as an educator.

Areas of Strength

Student Engagement: I work diligently to understand and meet each student’s unique learning needs by drawing on a range of data sources to tailor instruction. My commitment to building a supportive classroom atmosphere has helped create a welcoming space where students feel secure and encouraged to express themselves.

Collaborative Environment: I’m grateful for the sense of community we’ve developed in our classroom, where students actively contribute to a respectful and fair environment. This shared responsibility strengthens our bonds and enhances learning.

Opportunities for Improvement

Sensory Bins and Needs: I am committed to enhancing my use of sensory bins and understanding of sensory needs to create more engaging and effective learning experiences for each child. Focusing on this area will allow me to support diverse sensory preferences better and provide meaningful, hands-on opportunities for growth and exploration.

ELD Strategies: Expanding my support for English learners remains a priority, and I look forward to growing in this area to serve my students’ language development needs better.

Achievements

One of the most rewarding steps in my professional development has been starting a certification program (Trauma Informed Specialist) that focuses on supporting students with sensitivity to the challenges they may bring to the classroom. This training has given me valuable insights into how students’ backgrounds and experiences impact their learning, allowing me to approach them with empathy and tailored strategies. My success in building strong partnerships with parents and colleagues has led to a more collaborative approach to supporting each student’s growth.
